Chakras (Sanskrit for "Wheel") (pronounced Shah-krahh-z) are spinning energy vortexes, which are constantly turning, originating along the astral spine located in the center of the physical body. They are linked together by energy channels and are responsible for (among other things) the proper functioning of the organs in their vicinity. The Chakras are also related to specific elements of the physical world, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Ether.

All life is energy, known as CHI to the Chinese. Our thoughts, feelings and actions are actually forms of energy. The Chakras govern these energies in our bodies. Learning to tune into our personal energies can help us to achieve improved growth, spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally.

Chakras radiate energy within the aurathat surrounds the body. Beginning at the base of the spine and following in a straight line to the top of the head. Chakras also extend throughout the front and back of the body.

Each chakra is resonant with a color of the rainbow, starting with red at the Root chakra and continuing up the spectrum to violet at the Crown & silver white above the top of the head.

At birth, the Chakras are usually open, healthy and full of vitality. As children grow and develop, injury and trauma can cause the chakras to close. By the time adulthood is reached, they may be completely closed.
